Back to school...one more time

I love this time of year when school is starting. I have so many memories of going to the store with my mama and picking out a first day of school outfit. My mom would always put me and my sister's hair in hair rollers overnight so we would have cute curly hair in the morning.
I always remember my mom taking pictures of us in front of the house holding up what grade we were in.

There are so many sweet memories from my childhood of the first few days of school year. I can't believe that this year will be the last year that I will have a first day of school. Kind of bittersweet.
I can't wait for this year!

Happy Birthday Keith!

Happy Birthday to Keith!
Yesterday we had a super fun day celebrating his birthday. I made him cinnamon pancakes for breakfast and then we went to Seven peaks (a water park in Provo). We had such a fun day and I didn't even get sunburned. Amazing. Here is the birthday boy with his new record player he got for his birthday.

And here's him with his amazing birthday cake made by me! It's supposed to be a record player.

Overall it was such a fun day!
P.S. This is my new favorite summer recipe. Greek Pasta, yummy!

The future is as BRIGHT as your faith

The past few weeks have been a little crazy/overwhelming and I've just been down the past week or so. Life has been super busy while I'm between two jobs and I have felt like I never see my husband anymore because he is working so much too. Also it feels like every expensive thing I own is needing fixing. Though I know its not true, I've just felt frustrated and scared with how everything was going to work out, how we were going to find the time and means to make everything right.

I'm lucky to have a husband who knows how to calm my fears and make it better. This afternoon I ran across a quote I work in one of my conference journals a while back. It read, "Fear not, be of good cheer. The future is as bright as your faith." Its from President Monson's talk in May 2009 titled "Be of Good Cheer".

After looking up and reading the talk I was filled with hope. Life as a couple of poor college kids is scary and it feels like this time in our lives is never going to end, and sometimes you feel like the funds that you've tired hard to save up are being stretched further to things you didn't plan...

But despite all of this there are so many good things in my life. I have an amazing family who encourages us and lets us know that we are making good choices. I have an amazing spouse who sticks with me through every step. I live in a beautiful home and get to go to a wonderful school. I'm on the brink of finishing my education, an opportunity that a lot of people don't ever have.

And on top of all that, I have such a bright future filled with so many more opportunities and joy and I can't wait!

So instead of focusing on the things going wrong in life I can focus on the good as well as what the joy tomorrow will bring. I can live by this, "Be of good cheer, the future is as bright as your faith!"

Out with the old in with the new

We had a tragic loss this morning..my poor little computer died.

I love this little(well actually not so little) computer. We've worked hard together on countless papers and research. We've spent late nights surfing the web and watching movies and I was sad to see it start to fail me. But after several months of it freezing up, crashing and going way way slow, it finally had it's last straw this morning.
I almost lost all my precious pictures but my superhero husband managed to save them. And luckily we've been browsing for a new computer anyways so we we're able to find a new one for a super good price. So here is my new favorite...

It's a beauty! I am one lucky girl!
Oh and on another note, here is a recent project that I did. I repainted and updated on of my old clocks. It looks so much better in my new kitchen!

Bumps and bruises

I can never go long without injuring myself in some way. My poor mother had to rush me to the doctor many a time for bumps, sprained ankles, and many stitches. My parents used to call me Bambi on ice when I was a kid because I fell down so much. But apparently my coordination has improved because I have been long overdo for a big bump. Or so I thought...
Yesterday as I rushed out the door to bring a neighbor some delicious Apricot Jam I just made I knocked into the door frame knocking our key rack off the wall and into my poor foot. I didn't think too much of it till I woke up this morning with a very swollen, very bruised, sore ankle.

So no matter how hard I try I think I'll always be a clumsy one. Hopefully our kids will inherit a little more coordination from Keith.
